TOURING EXHIBITIONS GROUP

TEG (Touring Exhibitions Group www.teg.org.uk ) is the professional group in the UK concerned with all aspects of organising and touring exhibitions. It is an independent membership network of galleries, museums, libraries, art and science centres and other organisations committed to exchanging exhibitions as a means of sharing ideas, materials and resources.

Fort Resources were appointed to carry out a major 2 year research project for TEG looking at the shape of, potential for, and barriers to touring exhibitions in the UK. The work is funded by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation. The research plotted the current shape of touring exhibitions, explored changes and developments of the sector, and future-gazes towards new and alternative markets and motives for touring work.

The final published report, Mapping the Touring Landscape, summarises the following areas of touring exhibitions:

Audience Development
Access to Collections
The Widening Touring Sector
Supply & Demand
New Models of Touring
Stakeholders

and includes a SWOT analysis of the sector.
